God calls every believer to a lifestyle of prayer.
God invites every Christian to seek Him sincerely and continually. Prayer is two-way communication. Like a normal conversation, it involves talking to Him and listening to Him. He speaks through His Word and through His Holy Spirit who lives in every believer.
Adoration: Quiet your heart by exalting God. Adoration focuses on who God is.
“Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” Psalm 46:10
Confession: Remove barriers from your relationship with God by confessing sin.
“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9
Thanksgiving: Focus on what God has done, is doing, and will do for us.
“Rejoice always; pray without ceasing; in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
Supplication: Humbly pray for your needs and those of others.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6
Prayer is a daily privilege and responsibility that connects us to God’s heart. Both speaking and listening are important.
Pray through the following verses, asking God to make prayer a natural part of your life.
