God Can! Ask Him

Prayer invites God’s power into our needs. In love, God often waits to release His supply until we ask Him.

Biblical Foundation

1 John 5:4 Verse Art

“Therefore He is able also to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” — Hebrews 7:25

Introduction

Why pray when God already knows our needs? Because God loves us and invites our partnership. Prayer aligns us with His purpose and is His chosen channel for advancing Christ’s mission in the world.

Types of Prayer (from Matthew 7:7–8)

Asking

  • Pray for needs aligned with God’s will.
Seeking

  • Ask for wisdom about God’s plans.
Knocking

  • Persist in prayer for God’s opportunities.
Note: These are the types highlighted in this passage. Scripture shows more forms of prayer too (confession, praise, lament, etc.).

Key Insight

  • Jesus has all authority in heaven and earth (Matthew 28:18).
  • He intercedes for those who pray in His name (Hebrews 7:25).
  • Our prayers, even simple ones, connect to His power (John 14:13).
  • We ask according to His will (1 John 5:14–15).
  • God is able to answer (Ephesians 3:20).

Pick the form that best fits your current need.

Action Points

  • Call on the Lord to discover His will and wisdom (Jeremiah 33:3; James 1:5).
  • Remember: He will never lead you against the truth in His Word.
